Refined vs. Unrefined Face Oil: What's the Difference?

Oils can be like miracles, they can heal your skin, fade away old scars and reduce wrinkles. However bad quality oils can be harmful and cause breakouts. Argan Oil is a precious gift given us by nature that suits both oily and dry skin. We love to use it for skin, hair, during pregnancy, against stretching marks and even on our kids. Therefore, Argan Oil is a must-have for soft and clear skin. People call Argan Oil a ''liquid gold'' for a reason. So today, we want to go through what you should know, while buying your Argan Oil.

Do you pay attention to all of the different jargon about how your oils are sourced or processed… unrefined, virgin, cold-pressed, and so on? If no, continue reading. There are 3 main things to check, when it come to choose the highest quality Argan Oil.

1. Check for organic certifications (USDA, ECOCERT...). These organisations ensure that all botanical oils produced by the supplier are grown and processed according to standars and verified organic. It means, when you buy Argan Oil from our website, you know that there is only one ingredient in the bottle: Pure Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, with no additives, fragrance or any other oils. Our Argan Oil comes directly from our moroccan farm.

2. Argan Oil should be cold- pressed. Meaning, no heat or chemicals were used during oil extraction process. Minimal processing ensures a high quality, nutrient-rich, authentic-to-nature oil which is true in its flavour and colour. And therefore it will be the most beneficial for the skin.

3. Look for UNREFINED Argan Oil, meaning the oil was minimally processed and kept all its nutrients, vitamins and beneficial properties. The color of the unrefined Argan Oil will be more rich and look golden compared to the pale yallow color of refined Argan Oil. Some companies claim that they refine their oils in order to "remove all of the impurities or elements". Refined oils are less expensive, and have a longer shelf life than unrefined oils. As for us, all our oils are unrefined and produced in small batches. You can always get a fresh bottle of goddess on our website.
