5 Myths About Facial Oils

5 Myths About Facial Oils

Facial oils are skin heroes, but many of us are afraid of them. Using an oil on your skin seems counterintuitive, however the devil is in the details.

1- OILY SKIN CAN'T USE OILS

WRONG. Oily and acne-prone skin types often lack linoleic acid, meaning facial oils rich in linoleic acid help to balance skin and reduce breakouts. Our customers with oily skin use Argan Oil to reduce sebum!

2- FACIAL OILS ARE IRRITATING

Facial oils are often confused with essential oils, which can irritate some skin types. If you have sensitive skin look for facial oils without essential oils and fragrance. In fact, Zawina Argan Oil can be used on sensitive skin and eczema as well.

3- OILS MAKE YOUR SKIN GREASY

Not all facial oils are greasy! Dry oils, which have high levels of omega-6 fatty acids are fast absorbing and don't leave behind residue. Before choosing the facial oil, don't forget to check its comedogenic rating. For Example, comedogenic rate of Argan Oil and Fenugreek Oil is 0(zero), which means it won't clog your pores.

4- OIL-FREE IS BETTER

This is an outdated belief that in order for a product to be non-comedogenic, it must be "oil-free". However, most facial oils are non-comedogenic.

5- ALWAYS APPLY OILS LAST

It's a misconception that you must apply facial oils last. You can use oils to cleanse away stubborn make- up or mixed in with your moisturizer, as a hydration boost. Do what works best for you. Example: Argan Oil has small molecules size therefore penetrates the skin deeper and can be used instead of serum, right after the toner.
