Skincare ingredient you probably haven't heard about.

In our over-hyped skincare world, there is one ingredient that hasn’t got enough attention: Allantoin. Unfortunately we do not hear a lot about it. Although this is something to look for, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Allantoin is an extract from the comfrey plant, and for centuries comfrey leaves were used to help heal minor skin injuries and swelling. It also can be found in plants like chamomile, wheat sprouts, sugar beet. Nowadays, you can find Allantoin in many sensitive skin-friendly skin care products, moisturisers and lotions because it has soothing, moisturizing and healing properties.

Here are some benefits of Allantoin for skin:

- moisturises the skin to prevent dryness and irritation.
- keeps the skin smooth.
- has a calming effect on your skin and that is why it is used as a soothing ingredient in skin care products.
- is known for soothing injured skin and healing wounds. It is often used for skin irritation and rashes.
- prevents TEWL (transepidermal water loss) and can retain water in the skin cells.
-can make your skin feel plumper and softer again.

Due to its soothing properties, Allantoin is a great fit for acne scars. It reduces the redness caused by acne and helps in cell rejuvenation. The rejuvenation process can lighten the scars and result in an even skin tone!

Product with Allantoin: Post-Cleansing Hydrator

It is a light-weight hydrating and moisturising cream (yes, there is a difference) absorbs really quick and helps to even skin tone while transforming dull skin to a luminous and healthy. This daily face cream won’t irritate your skin and you can use day or night time.

Tip: if you want to get a richer texture, you can always add a drop of Argan Oil to Post-Cleansing Hydrator, mix it in the palm of your hand and then apply to your face to get an extra glow and more moisture.
